The people in the Dow Avenue neighborhood of Arlington Heights, Massachusetts had a problem that nobody wanted to talk about. This program shows how almost two million dollars worth of equipment and infrastructure was installed underground to solve it. Now, even after a heavy rain, residents are again safe to go down into their basements.
Issues of geology, hydrology, wastewater infrastructure and design, including the sanitary sewer system, storm drains, ground water, as well as community relations, municipal and state government, and construction techniques are touched upon.
Produced by Open Eyes Video in 1989, the program is fully edited and narrated. It runs approximately 30 minutes.
